COVID-19 SITUATION AND ACTIVITIES
The pandemic which started in February 2020 and peaked in March 2020 extending till August 2021 created a big gap in our coordination and contact with members and our regular activities. As per the directives and instructions of the Directorate of the Social Affairs Ministry and Government, the Club was closed in March 2020 and all planned activities were cancelled including sports and members meeting.
However, many programs and activities were arranged during this period including distribution of face masks and distribution of food packages to the needy families. The food packages were distributed many times during this period due to social lockdown.
1- Food Packages Distribution
Food packages were prepared and distributed on 6thApril 2020 to the deserving needy people and families facing financial difficulties and individuals separately based on their need. The packages were delivered to the people’s residence by the Pakistan Club volunteers. Basic food items provided include rice, flour, sugar, tea, cooking oil, milk, lentils, spices etc. The food packages were provided to 200 families and 250 individuals.
2- Ramadan Food Packages Distribution
Ramadan Food packages were prepared and distributed from 23-30thApril 2020 to families and individuals separately. The packages were delivered to the people’s residence by the Pakistan Club volunteers.
Ramadan was celebrated with great fervor and spirits. Due to lockdown and Covid-19 situation the workers and staff suffered. Pakistan Club arranged supply of Iftar and Dinner to the needy and deserving as well as to the workers accommodation and labor camps. The food was organized involving local ladies who are informally preparing and supplying food to maintain their livelihood and supporting their families. Many such families were helped, who provided the iftar and dinner packets rather than ordering and procuring the food from local restaurants.
The campaign included:
a- Iftar & dinner for 300 workers on 24th April 2021
b- Iftar & dinner for 45 workers on 30th April 2021
c-. Iftar & dinner for 50 workers on 3rd May till 10th May 2021
The Club provided various community services and continued the Food packages distribution to the needy and deserving community members. During the Month of Ramadan, iftar food packages were prepared and sent to various labour camps and workers accommodations. People quarantining in hotels planning to proceed to Saudia Arabia were helped and attended. Supported in getting clearance and community help to the deceased who died in Bahrain who were planning to proceed to Saudi Arabia. Coordinated with Pakistan Embassy in repatriating the dead bodies as well as taking care of their dependents.
Covid-19 affected people were helped who have to stay at the Sitra Quarantine for 14 days. Regular community counselling was carried out by Club volunteers and through Pakistani doctors. In this context, the Pakistan Club team have visited the BDF and have met HE Major General Prof. Sheikh Khalid Bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director of Royal Medical Services and Col Dr. Nayef Abdul Rahman Lori, Director of Sitra Medical Quarantine at the BDF office.

3- Face Mask Distribution
Wearing Face masks was made compulsory by the health authorities. Pakistan Club organized free mask distribution at Pakistan Club on 23rd April 2020 and was attended by the Batelco team. More than 500 facemasks were distributed at Pakistan Club, taking care of social distancing.
4- Distribution of Iftar Boxes
On 8th May 2020Iftar boxes were distributed to the needy people in Manama area. Around100 Iftar and food boxes were distributed to the deserving community in Manama.
